Thanks to all the sponsors, builders, and families that participated in Project Playhouse on Saturday, December 3, 2022!!
Stay tuned for details on Project Playhouse happening in December 2023!
On Saturday, December 3rd, Sea Island Habitat along with Charleston Habitat, Dorchester Habitat, East Cooper Habitat and Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County convened at a local Lowe's Home Improvement warehouse for an incredible building blitz of playhouses. Sea Island Habitat for Humanity had 3 sponsoring teams build 3 playhouses!!
Special thanks to our 2022 sponsors: Lowes Home Improvement Store #2948, Emily Adams State Farm, John & Lesley Hill, and Megan Molten Interior Design!
Each wooden playhouse was custom-made to the likes and interests of a child(ren) in our community. These families qualify as low-income and due to financial restraints would be unable to provide a gift like this to their child(ren) for the holidays. We want you to help make a kid's holiday season memorable by building them an incredible playhouse.
🔨 Sponsoring and building a playhouse costs $3,000 and includes entry for up to 8 builders, a playhouse kit, and instruction on how to build it, as well as breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks.
🔨 We need all skill levels, age 16+. If you have a smile and can hold a hammer, we need your help. Our friendly staff will be on-site to show you how to build the playhouse.
🔨 We encourage you to bring paint colors and decorations to make the playhouse truly unique and special. Preferences of the child will be provided upon registration.
🔨 We encourage you to represent your brand, church, or group name prominently during the build day by wearing matching t-shirts and even as part of your decoration of the playhouse!
🔨 Wear closed-toed shoes and dress comfortably. This is an indoor event.
At the end of the build, teams will get to reveal the playhouse to the selected families and see the kids' excitement over this new addition to their backyard! 🏠

Other Habitat Affiliates have used Playhouse Project as a way to raise critical funding and teach their communities about the benefits of homeownership. Check out this video from Maumee Valley Habitat and what a playhouse build looks like!
Currently, it costs over $100,000 to build one Habitat home. Please consider sponsoring a playhouse this holiday season as a way to help us provide more affordable homeownership options to working families.
Not comfortable with a hammer? If you're interested in supporting this event either through a donation or through volunteering please contact Sheilagh@seaislandhabitat.org.
