Volunteer Info

If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.

So you want to volunteer with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity? Great choice! Sea Island Habitat for Humanity believes that volunteers are the backbone of our ministry. Hundreds of families would not be living in decent housing if it weren’t for you. Volunteers are always needed and appreciated!

All volunteers are required to sign a Release and Waiver of Liability and bring it on their first day of volunteering and to abide by the Age & Ability Guidelines and Code of Conduct.

We need volunteers for:

  1. Construction

We welcome volunteers every Monday through Saturday 8am-12pm and 1-4pm (7-11am and 12-3pm during the summer). We appreciate individuals and volunteer groups, local and out-of-town volunteers, and skilled and unskilled volunteers. You must be scheduled to volunteer. To schedule a date, contact our Volunteer Coordinator. Please see the links below for additional information.

If you are a skilled construction worker (trim carpenters, electricians, block layers, plumbers, and any other skilled workers) and have time for some pro-bono work, you have the potential to be a tremendous blessing to our affiliate. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator to find out when our homes will be at the right stage for your work.

  2. ReStore

Our restore is located on Johns Island. Our ReStore funds between 5-7 homes each year, so your help here is very important and appreciated!

Our Re-Store is continually in need of volunteers, both male and female, to help sort merchandize, price items for sale, answer the telephone, help out in the office, etc. We would like our volunteers to work a 4 hour shift once a week (and certainly more hours if you are inclined to do so) under the supervision of a member of the store staff or an experienced volunteer. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator to get started.

  3. Office

Helping with mailings, inputting data, working on fundraising, assisting families with financial planning, answering phones, writing letters, taking photography, etc. You name it, we need it!

  4. Committees

This is the "behind the scenes" work - without it, no Habitat homes could be built. There is a committee to suit every talent and skill. Committees include:

    • Fundraising & Development Committees:
      • Golf Benefit Committee
      • Women Build Committee
      • Auction Committee
      • Fundraising Committee
    • Family Selection
    • Land Planning & Development Committee
    • ReStore Committees:
      • Operations
      • Volunteer
      • Marketing

If you would like to become involved in any of the above stated opportunities, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@seaislandhabitat.org or 843.768.0998, x109.
