We Need You!
Volunteers are the heart of Sea Island Habitat for Humanity and the most important resource we have. We rely on your support to invest in Habitat’s mission. To learn more about any of the following opportunities, contact Liv, firstname.lastname@example.org, 843.768.0998, ext. 116 or 843.442.8827. You may also fill out this form signing up for specific dates or indicating your interests.
No experience necessary, we will teach you everything you need to know. You will work with fellow volunteers and future homeowners, and be guided by our Site Supervisors. Just show up willing to work as part of a team and learn new skills. We will do the rest!
We welcome individuals, groups, and our Carpenter Club of special teams who come monthly (see below).
Please note volunteers must be at least 16 years old and we recommend one adult supervisor for each 3 volunteers between 16 and 17.
Invividuals: Every single person can make a difference by building hope. Join us on-site for any of the shifts on Tuesday-Saturday, 7 am-11 am and 12 pm-3 pm.
If you are a skilled construction worker (trim carpenter, electrician, block layer, plumber, or other construction skills) and have time for some pro-bono work, you can be a welcome blessing to our affiliate.
Carpenter Club: We’re looking for teams of 5-8 to volunteer once a month. The team will report to our construction and/or repair sites once a month on a predetermined day to work on special tasks.
Groups: Are you interested in a team building activity for your employees, church, or other organization? We welcome groups year round and can provide housing for out of town groups. The calendar for larger groups can fill up months in advance so please book early.
Before coming to a job site:
- Contact our volunteer coordinator.
- Sign a release and waiver of liability to bring on your first day of volunteering.
- Helpful: read our Orientation and Safety Guidelines
Directions to the job site: Heritage Oaks (1880 Ferguson Rd.).
Proceeds from sales at our ReStore on Johns Island fund on average, 9 homes each year. You can help at the store or in our deconstruction program.
In the store: We always need help sorting merchandise, pricing items for sale, answering the telephone, running the cash register, and in the office.
Deconstruction: Much of our store merchandise is from donors who allow us to come into their homes or businesses and remove reusable, resalable items. Learn more.
We welcome help in our office at 2545 Bohicket Road, including mailings, entering data, working on fundraising, assisting families with financial planning, answering phones, writing letters, and taking photographs.
