“It was like bright sunshine opened up on me the day I found out I was approved to become a Habitat homeowner. God is good!” said Rosetta Howard.

Rosetta moved to Wadmalaw Island in 1983 from New York City because she claims she’s a “Momma’s baby” and wanted to move closer to her mother; Rosetta’s family has roots on the island going back generations. She said, “New York was loud with a lot of crime, and by then I had two boys that I needed to move to a safer place.I just fell in love with Wadmalaw Island and have been here ever since.”

She works at the Johns Island Piggly Wiggly, is the mother of four, and is
engaged to Rene Bidding who works at the Sea Island Habitat ReStore. She and
Rene met through a friend, and are going to be married in their new front yard
during their home’s dedication ceremony.

Rosetta HowardRosetta closed on her home on March 11. It is the first one finished in McCloud Place on Wadmalaw Island. Construction began in September during the WEZL
Build with the Exchange Club of Kiawah-Seabrook.

Rosetta said that working with the radio station and the local Exchange Club was “A beautiful experience, and you can count on me to keep helping Habitat and other families building their homes.”
