Jason and Elana first heard about Sea Island Habitat through their neighbor, Troy Pruitt, who happens to be the SIHH Construction Manager. They were renting a house at the time at a discount because they agreed to make improvements to the house. Elana said, “We must have done too good of a job with our improvements because the landlord sold it instead of allowing us to continue living there…it’s really hard to find somewhere to rent that we can afford.” Troy believed they would be great candidates for Sea Island Habitat and encouraged them to apply. When they were selected to become a SIHH partner family, they went to work on earning their 500 hours of sweat equity. Elana said that it was a challenge to reach the 500 hour requirement and they sacrificed much vacation time to accomplish it, but in the end it was worth it because it built such an appreciation for their new home. |
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for assistance without regard to race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. |
