The Brown familyFaith is very important to Earl and Carrie Brown, and they are so appreciative to receive a home sponsored by local churches.  Their home was built through the 2009 Faith in Action build, in which five churches joined together to split the cost, labor and support needed to build their home: James Island Presbyterian Church, Johns Island Presbyterian Church, Seacoast Church – James Island, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church & St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Earl and Carrie closed on their home this fall.  Earl has worked at the Harris Teeter on James Island for the past seven years and Carrie has been employed by the Indigo Inn for the past five.  Earl and Carrie have two daughters of their own who no longer live with them, and they are also co-guardians of their eight year-old grandson John, Tev.

Before their new home with Sea Island Habitat was complete, they were renting a small 2-bedroom apartment on James Island in a somewhat unsafe neighborhood.  They have never been homeowners before and are looking forward to the adventures and challenges this new chapter in their life will bring. The Browns will be a great partner family and we are excited to have them become a part of Habitat
